-Deciding between the two can be confusing when choosing your flagpole, but hopefully I can help. When choosing between a fiberglass or aluminum flagpole much of the factors to take into consideration come from application and environment in which the flagpole will be used.
Fiberglass -If you live in an area prone to lightning strikes consider a fiberglass pole because it won’t attract lightning like an aluminum pole will. If you need to avoid acid rain corrosion, consider a fiberglass pole because acid rain eats away at aluminum poles.
Aluminum-When using a flagpole in a parade or an event in which you have to carry it, consider an aluminum pole over a fibreglass one because aluminum is lighter. If you live in an area of high wind, consider an aluminum pole because they come in different strength ratings that can be customized to where you live.
-Lastly, even when figuring shipping costs you should consider how the two stack up. An aluminum pole will generally be lighter than the fiberglass alternative, thus being cheaper to ship.
